In Lego Star Wars for Wii, how do you complete "character bonus endor"?

Everything I read on-line is saying we need to collect 1,000,000 studs, but this doesn't compute with what we see on screen. At the top middle is "0:0", like a score tally for each player. We've never gotten it to go off 0 for either of us, and gathering studs doesn't seem to do anything. Besides which, getting 1,000,000 studs here seems nearly impossible as we are surrounded by enemies and lose all our studs every few lives? In the "lego land" level, it was obvious we were trying to get 1,000,000 studs because it kept our tally and showed "(1,000,000)" on screen.
